LAKE CHARLES The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country team posted two of the top four finishes on the women's side while Matthew Rice and freshman Bryce Robinson paced the Cajuns on the men's side in the season-opening McNeese Relays on Friday at Enos Derbonne Complex.

The Louisiana A team of Ashley Irwin and Danielle Castaldi finished third overall on the women's side, posting a time of 21:12.58 on the 6K course with the Louisiana C team of Anna Katherine Devitt and freshman Courtney Broussard finishing fourth at 21:17.15.

The Louisiana D team of Claire Hodges and Courtney Musgrove finished in seventh-place in 21:52.77, while the Louisiana E team of Lindsay Lagarde and Kaylei Esfeller was 13th in 22:47.00.

Rice, making his return to the lineup after missing the final five cross country events last season to an injury, teamed with Bryce Robinson to finish sixth overall in the 8K race in 26:05.91. The Louisiana A team of Corbett Ourso and freshman Beau Robinson was eighth overall in 26:42.42 with Jacob Chicola and Trey Bonin finishing 12th (27:03.05), Dylan Heck and Sean Bezdek 13th (27:31.55) and Scott Brewster and freshman Logan LaGarde 14th (27:32.52).

Louisiana will return to action when it travels to Houston to compete in the Rice Invitational on Sept. 12.
