Track and Field: Ragin' Cajuns Ready To Compete For SBC Indoor TitlePublished by
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team begins action on Monday as it competes in the 2015 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships that will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Action begins at 9 a.m. with the heptathlon with competition slated in the weight throw at 10. Action in the two-day event continues on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Live results and live video can be accessed at RaginCajuns.com. "We are really excited for the opportunity to compete for a conference championship," Louisiana head coach Lon Badeaux said. "We feel like we have a couple of teams that can be very competitive, and I like our chances of doing well in the upcoming meet." Louisiana finished fourth in the women's event with the men finishing sixth at last year's meet. Morgan Cormier (men's 60-meter hurdles) and Stacy Imagbe (women's long jump) have each recorded the top marks in the Sun Belt Conference this season for Louisiana with four athletes Hanoj Carter (men's 200-meters), Tyler Hughes (men's 60-meter hurdles), William LeBlanc (men's high jump) and Kelcio Lyons (women's 800-meters) rated second in the league in their respective events. Five athletes Devin Davis (men's long jump), Dionte Heath (men's high jump), Matt Wilson (men's pole vault), Matthew Rice (men's 1-mile run) and Tia Mitchell (women's long jump) each posted the third-best marks in the Sun Belt Conference with the Ragin' Cajuns ranked third overall in both the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay team.
