The Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams took in their final team race of the 2011 season on Saturday running in the Sun Belt Conference Championships at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green, Ky.

Zach France was the Cajuns top finisher in the men's 8K placing 21st out of 78 runners who finished the meet crossing the finish line with a time of 26:30.3.

On the women's side, the top Cajuns finisher was Petrona Layne who traversed the 5K course in 19:43.8 for a 39th place finish out of 82 runners.

The UL men finished ninth in the team standings with 230 points. The UL women were 10th with 284 points.

"I was really proud of the way the kids competed today," Head Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Lon Badeaux said. "They fought hard and almost all of the kids had a personal best or season best.

"I think Coach (Kelly) LaMaison has done a great job with both squads and really maximized their potential," Badeaux added. "I feel like we took a small step forward today and our future looks bright."

Freshman Adam Kendrick placed 33rd in his Sun Belt Championships debut clocking in at 27:19.1, joining France as the two Cajuns men in the Top 50.

Kail Kidd (28:22.1, 54th), Jacob Delahoussaye (28:46.6, 61st) and Cody Tilley (28:51.8, 63rd) were the remaining runners to count toward the men's final tally.

Following Layne, the next two Cajuns women to cross the finish line were April Colomb (20:43.8) and Hlfti Kahassy (20:44.7) who finished 59th and 60th, respectively.

Freshman Lauren Broussard and Jolee Bonneval were the final two runners to court toward the women's tally. Broussard finished the 5K trek in 20:57.9 and placed 67th and Bonneval finished 69th with a time of 20:59.5.

The Western Kentucky men's and women's teams claimed the team titles in both events. For the second consecutive year, WKU's Marion Kandie won the women's 5K crossing the finish line in 17:21.5. On the men's side, Middle Tennessee's Justus David was the individual winner in the 8K at 24:25.7.
