Cross Country: Cross Country Continues Season Saturday

The Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams continue their 2011 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 24 participating in the Tiger Cross Country Festival hosted by LSU at Highland Road Park in Baton Rouge.

The women's 6K race will get underway at 8:05 a.m. The men's 8K race is scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m.

The Highland Road Park is located on Highland Road in Baton Rouge, approximately eight miles south of the LSU campus.

Both the UL men and women are participating in their third event of the season. After opening the season with timed relays at McNeese on Sept. 2, the Cajuns took in their first team meet hosting the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational last Friday.

The men claimed the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational team title, led by individual winner Zach France, who finished the four mile course in a time of 21:36.4. Adam Kendrick finished just behind France in a time of 21:44.7.

On the women's side the Cajuns finished third, with Lauren Broussard (10th - 20:38.50) and Petrona Layne (12th - 20:52.0) leading the way.

The Tiger Cross Country Festival marks the midway point of the season for Louisiana. Only meets at McNeese State on Oct. 1 and Northwestern State on Oct. 21 remain before the Sun Belt Championship which is set for Oct. 29 in Bowling Green, Ky.
