Cross Country: Limoh, Badeaux Claim Top Honors; Four Cajuns Named To LSWA Cross Country TeamPublished by
NATCHITOCHES Led by Freshman of the Year Stanley Limoh and men's Co-Coach of the Year Lon Badeaux, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns cross country team placed four members on the men's and women's All-Louisiana Cross Country Collegiate teams, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced Tuesday. Limoh, Beau Robinson and Matt Rice were each named to the men's squad with senior Courtney Musgrove earning a spot on the women's team. The LSWA All-Louisiana cross country teams were voted on by the state's sports information directors. SID's were not allowed to vote for their own nominees. As a freshman, Limoh was selected as the Sun Belt Conference's newcomer and freshman of the year, while making the South Central All-Region Team with a third-place finish. The Kapsabet, Kenya, native earned three first-place finishes for the Ragin' Cajuns, and became the first Ragin' Cajuns runner to qualify for the NCAA Championships since 1971. Robinson made his second consecutive all-state appearance for Louisiana after he posted four top-five finishes and earned first-team All-Sun Belt honors for a second straight season. Rice, a third-team All-Sun Belt Conference performer, earned state honors for the fourth time after previously being selected in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Musgrove was named to the all-state team for the first time in her career after earning third-team All-SBC honors and four top-20 finishes. Badeaux led the Ragin' Cajuns men's team to a second-place finish at the Sun Belt Conference Championships its best since claiming the 2004 title and their highest ranking (No. 9) in the USTFCCCA South Central Region Poll. Tulane sophomore Emmanuel Rotich and McNeese junior Katja Woelfl were named the runners of the year for the men's and women's All-Louisiana Cross Country Collegiate teams, with Tulane's Eric Peterson sharing Coach of the Year honors with Badeaux.
