Track and Field: Cajuns Head West To Lake Charles For McNeese Spring Time Classic

LAFAYETTE The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team returns to action on Saturday when it competes in the annual McNeese Spring Time Classic at the Bill and Lena Henning Track and Field Complex.

Admission is $5 as events will get underway at 9 a.m. with the men's hammer throw followed by the women, and the women's javelin followed by the men. Live results can be followed at www.RaginCajuns.com.

The first running event will be the 5,000-meters at 10 a.m. while a rolling schedule of the remaining running events will start at noon with the 4x100-meter relay.

A total of 10 schools will compete on the day including Louisiana, host McNeese State, Alcorn State, Grambling, Jackson State, Louisiana College, Loyola, New Orleans, Nicholls, Southeastern Louisiana and Southern.

Louisiana returns to action after competing at the Pepsi Florida Relays last week in Gainesville, Fla. Matt Rice posted the fastest time among Sun Belt Conference athletes in the men's 1,500-meter run last week with a time of 3:49.80 with Stanley Limoh (14:37.39) and Beau Robinson (14:48.92) each posting top-5 times in the men's 5,000-meters.

Lindsay LaGarde, who will run in the women's 800-meters, posted the fourth-fastest time in the 5,000-meters (17:50.98) for Louisiana with Claire Meyers ranked fifth overall in the women's javelin (139-11).
