Track and Field: Ragin' Cajuns Open Indoor Season At Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team officially opens its 2014 indoor season on Friday when it competes in the Texas Team Invitational at the Gilliam Indoor Track and Field Stadium.

The meet, hosted by Texas A&M, is the first of five during the indoor season for the Ragin' Cajuns.

The 12-team meet begins with running and field events at noon. Louisiana will be joined by Sun Belt Conference school ULM, Houston Baptist, Lamar, North Texas, Northwestern State, Prairie View, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and UT Pan American.

On the women's side, returning All-Sun Belt Conference performer Morgan Breaux returns and is scheduled to compete in the 60- and 200-meter dash. Distance runners Anna Katherine Devitt and Claire Hodges will each compete in the 1-mile run 3,000-meter run for the Cajuns with Danielle Castaldi and Kaylei Esfeller slated to compete in the 800-meter run.

In field events, Lindsey Harmon (high jump), Meredith Driskell (pole vault), Ta' Shania Bean (long jump, triple jump), Tarvia Conway (triple jump) and Precious Lollis (shot put, weight throw) are among a solid group of returning letterwinners slated to compete.

On the men's side, Justin Victor (weight throw) and Morgan Cormier (60-meter hurdles) each return after the pair earned a fifth-place finish at the 2013 Sun Belt Indoor Championships.

Omari Davis (60-meter dash), Keygan Keys (400-meter dash), Matt Rice (800-meter run) and freshman Logan Pearce (1-mile run) are slated to compete in running events with Josh McDaniels (pole vault), Matt Wilson (pole vault), Harald Bust (long jump) and Micah Thomas (long jump) scheduled to compete in field events.
