Track and Field: Victor Finishes Fourth In Hammer Throw; Carter Qualifies In 100 at Texas RelaysPublished by
AUSTIN, Texas Justin Victor turned in a fourth-place performance in the men's hammer throw while Hanoj Carter qualified for the finals of the men's 100-meter dash to highlight the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns track and field team at the 88th annual Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Victor recorded a throw of 209 feet, 8 inches on his second-to-last attempt of the day to move up two spots in the final standings to highlight Thursday's action for the Ragin' Cajuns. Morgan Cormier, competing in the men's 400-meter hurdles, finished 31st overall with a time of 53.11 seconds, while Alena Hrusoci (1:02.10) and Joya Tardieff (1:05.59) each competed in the women's 400-meter hurdles. Carter finished sixth overall in the preliminaries of the men's 100-meter dash after posting a time of 10.40 and advancing to Saturday's final, which is scheduled for 3:18 p.m. Teammate Jeryl Brazil posted a time of 10.77. In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Cormier posted a time of 14.77 with freshman Tyler Hughes crossing the finish line in 15.32. Stacy Imagbe posted a time of 12.37 in the women's 100-meter dash while Jasmin Fusilier recorded a time of 14.53 in the women's 100-meter hurdles. In the high jump "Section B" event, William LeBlanc placed fourth overall after clearing the bar at 6-11. The meet will conclude for Louisiana on Saturday at 3 p.m. when Devin Davis competes in the men's long jump, and Imagbe and Tia Mitchell participate in the women's long jump.
