Cross Country: @RaginCajunsTRK Heads West To Compete At McNeese Cowboy Stampede

LAFAYETTE The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams will compete in its biggest field of the season when they head west to Lake Charles to compete in the Lake Charles Toyota/McNeese Cowboy Stampede on Saturday at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex.

Action begins with the women's five-kilometer race at 8:30 a.m., with the men's four-mile race set for 9. Live results, courtesy of McNeese, will be available at www.RaginCajuns.com.

LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Hannes Burger finished fourth overall, posting a time of 20 minutes, 42.5 seconds, and Louisiana placed four runners in the top 15 to claim the men's team title at the 37th annual LSU Invitational on September 15 at Highland Road Park.

Stanley Limoh and Key Alfred each posted top-10 finishes for Louisiana with Jonathan Kimutai finishing 13th. The Ragin' Cajuns scored 54 points over the four-mile course to claim their first event of the season, finishing ahead of McNeese (60), Southeastern Louisiana (76), LSU (80) and Tulane (94) in the eight-team field.

Hailey Hesterman posted a time of 20.28.7 to finish 25th overall in the women's 3-mile race and lead the Ragin' Cajuns to a sixth-place finish.

THE FIELD
Louisiana, ranked No. 12 in the latest men's USTFCCCA South Central Region poll, will be one of 13 schools competing in the men's collegiate event. The Ragin' Cajuns will be joined in the men's field by regionally-ranked programs McNeese (No. 5) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (No. 14).

Other schools competing in the event includes Alcorn State, Bossier Parish Community College, Central Arkansas (men), Grambling, Houston Baptist, Louisiana Tech (women), Nicholls, Northwestern State, Pearl River Community College (women), Prairie View, Sam Houston State, Texas Southern (women) and Xavier of New Orleans.
