Cross Country: Strong Performances Lead @RaginCajunsTRK At Cowboy Stampede

LAFAYETTE Stanley Limoh recorded his 10th career top-5 finish while Hailey Hesterman turned in her first top-20 performance of the season to lead the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country teams at the Lake Charles Toyota/McNeese Cowboy Stampede on Saturday at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex.

Freshmen Hannes Burger and Key Alfred each placed in the top 15 as Louisiana finished third overall in a 14-team field.

The Ragin' Cajuns, ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA South Central Region poll, placed five runners in the top 20 and scored 60 points to finish behind a pair of regionally-ranked programs Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (39) and host McNeese (58). On the women's side, Louisiana finished eighth in the 14-team event, scoring 213 points.

Limoh, who finished ninth overall at the LSU Invitational two weeks ago, turned in his best performance of the season after completing the 4-mile race in 21:23.0. Burger and Alfred each continued their impressive freshman campaigns for Louisiana, as Burger placed seventh overall (21:41.0) with Alfred 15th (22:14.4).

Shadrack Kipngetich clocked a time of 22:17.6 to finish 16th overall for the Ragin' Cajuns with Jonathan Kimutai earning a 19th-place performance after posting a time of 22:24.6.

George Femmer (22:49.7) and Conner Meche (22:51.1) placed 30th and 31st, respectively for the Ragin' Cajuns with Andre Bellard (23:08.5), Regan Lemaire (24:04.9) and Rashid Reese (25:20.3) rounding out the Louisiana contingent.

Hesterman, who finished 15th overall, turned in Louisiana's top performance for the second consecutive meet after crossing the finish line on the five-kilometer course in 19:44.6.

Ally McCulley, making her season debut for the Ragin' Cajuns, placed 29th overall (20:22.3) with Teresa Bruning (20:42.0), Alexa Breaux (22:15.3), Alivia Johnson (22:38.3), Kate Ferguson (23:33.9) and Kaya Seaman (25:42.6) rounding out the lineup.

Louisiana will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, when it travels to College Station, Texas to compete at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on the Watts Cross Country Course.
