Cross Country: Cross Country Ready For Final Tuneup At Little Rock InvitationalPublished by
LAFAYETTE The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country team makes its final tuneup before next month's Sun Belt Conference when it travels to compete at the Little Rock Invitational on Saturday at War Memorial Park. The men's 8-kilometer race will begin at 10 a.m., with the women's 5K race set for 10:45. Louisiana is one of 15 schools entered in the meet that includes three Sun Belt Conference schools: host Little Rock, Arkansas State and Georgia State. Other schools entered in the meet are Arkansas-Monticello, Central Arkansas, Harding, Henderson State, Jacksonville State, John Brown, Lane, Lyon, Oral Roberts, University of the Ozarks and UA-Rich Mountain Community College. Louisiana, which will compete at the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Nov. 2 in Hampton, Ga., returns to action after earning a ninth-place finish at the Lake Charles Toyota Cowboy Stampede on Sept. 28 in Lake Charles. Key Alfred and freshman Emoni Coleman each paced their respective teams in the 15-team event with Alfred covering the 4-mile course in 22:21.9 and Coleman pacing an injury-depleted women's squad on the 5K course with a time of 19:53.6.
