Cross Country: Alfred, Coleman Lead Ragin' Cajuns At Sun Belt Championships

HAMPTON, Ga. Key Alfred and Emoni Coleman each led their respective squads and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's and Women's Cross Country teams wrapped up competition on Saturday at the Sun Belt Conference Championships at Nash Farm Battlefield Park.

Alfred finished 42nd overall for Louisiana, covering the 8,000-meter course in a personal-best 26 minutes, 36.9 seconds. Rashid Reese clocked a personal-best (28:20.9) for the Ragin' Cajuns, who finished 10th overall in the meet with 265 points.

Jonathan Kimutai (27:13.0) was the second runner to cross the finish line for the Ragin' Cajuns with Conner Meche (27:16.6), Stanley Limoh (28:13.3), Reese and Chandler Burns (29:13.2) following.

Coleman, an Atlanta, Ga., native, completed the women's 5,000-meter race in a personal-best 19:28.7 to lead Louisiana with freshmen Meredith Hebert (21:07.6) and Kelly Goff (21:19.4) posting top marks. The Ragin' Cajuns, who featured four true freshmen in the meet, finished 11th overall with 313 points.

Ally McCulley followed Coleman across the finish line for the Ragin' Cajuns in 19:38.1 with Alexa Breaux (20:43.8), Hebert, Goff, freshman Roselie Michot (21:38.9) and Kate Ferguson (22:25.7) rounding out Louisiana's lineup.

Appalachian State claimed the men's crown with 48 points with Arkansas State claiming the women's title with 57 points.

Coastal Carolina's Nadeel Wildschutt claimed the men's individual 8K title with a time of 23:29.0 with Lotte Meyberg of Georgia State claiming the women's 5K crown in 17:11.7.
