Cross Country: Louisiana To Run Saturday At McNeese Cowboy StampedePublished by
LAFAYETTE The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's cross country team will face off against its largest field of the season on Saturday when it travels to Lake Charles to compete in the Lake Charles Toyota Cowboy Stampede at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex. The women's 5,000-meter race will kick off the event at 8:30 a.m., followed by the men's four mile race at 9 a.m. Live results will be available at RaginCajuns.com. Louisiana will join host McNeese in the meet that will attract over 200 college athletes, including Alcorn State, Grambling, Houston, Houston Baptist, Louisiana College, Louisiana Tech, New Orleans, Northwestern State, Prairie View, Rice, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern and Xavier of New Orleans. The Ragin' Cajuns return to action for their third meet of the 2019 season with their last competition coming at the Gerald Richey Invitational on Sept. 14 in Arlington, Texas. Key Alfred led Louisiana's men's team to a fourth-place finish in the event while freshman Emoni Coleman paced the Ragin' Cajuns women's team to a seventh-place showing. Alfred has posted a pair of top-25 performances to lead Louisiana in men's competition while Coleman has recorded a pair of top-25 finishes in her first season with the Ragin' Cajuns, debuting with a 10th-place performance in the season-opening New Orleans Cross Country Invitational on Aug. 30.
